John the author of revelation ?

i know John the author of revelation was exiled to the island of patmos, but does anyone know if he wrote the book in a tower some reason it sticks in my mind but not sure how or where it came from has anyone else heard this or am i just going crazy lol

The isle of Patmos was a Roman prison camp, so quite possibly John was in a tower when he received the Revelation. He had been banished there, so I don't suppose he was sitting on the beach.....
